Brewing Fun
What's Brewing? Well I just finished yesterday putting the cream ale in to two carboys for the secondary fermentation. Yep you saw correct 2 carboys . Why do you ask? Due to I split the batch and make 2 different beers. One is going to remain the Classic Cream Ale and the second I am going to make a specialty beer. I am going to see what a little Caribbean Vanilla is going to do in making the beer into a Caribbean Vanilla Cream Ale. The mid range gravity as of now is 1.020. I am hoping this will drop to at least 1.010 or lower in the next week or two. I am gong to ask around what I can do to lower the gravity so I get a better tasting beer. Plus that will increase the alcohol in the beer also. This should be a fun outcome on these two beers. This morning the beers was chugging away in the carboys. I gave the Ale a taste yesterday and wow it had a great flavor. I am going to put the Stout in its secondary fermentation today also. Today I am going to also look to see if there are any local bars that are willing to give up there empty beer bottles? This will be fun to find out and I am hoping I can find one or two that are willing to help. That would save money in the long run. I will keep you all posted on what I find out on getting free beer bottles. How about Lil' Huckleberry Ale? Placed 4th in the AHA Regional first round. Wow I was so happy to see it did so well against some very tough competition. I will get the results shortly as to what the final numbers where and be sure to post them also. Adios until tomorrow when we will be drinking a great tequila to celebrate Cinco De Mayo. Mike
